UNISON Membership for Blackpool Council Staff
UNISON is the largest recognised union in Blackpool Council. We negotiate on behalf of our members on pay, terms and conditions, restructures and pay scale evaluation of jobs, to name but a few. We provide our members with help, advice, support and representation on wide ranging employment issues, including disciplinary and attendance management matters. In short, we're here to support you as a UNISON member.
We are the voice of our members but, without you, our voice is weaker. So, join us today and help us to shout louder on your behalf.
UNISON membership subscriptions at Blackpool Council
As a Blackpool Council Employee, you can pay your membership fees via your salary or via Direct Debit.
Membership via Blackpool Council Salary/Wages
This is also known as DOCAS payment. It's easier for you as the correct subscription band is calculated for you and any changes in your salary are reflected automatically. However, we do ask that you let us know when your job role changes so that we can update your membership details. This enables us to keep you updated on issues relevant to your current role rather than your previous one.
We will need your signature on a membership form for us to be able to collect your membership directly from your salary. You can either contact us or your workplace steward/rep for a DOCAS membership form or download one here. Please return it directly to the branch via the freepost address for us to process or you can pop it in the internal post:

Membership via Direct Debit
Working for the council doesn’t mean you have to pay your membership subscriptions via your salary. You can also pay via Direct Debit from your bank, but it will be your responsibility to notify us of any changes to your subscription band as this will not be automatic reflected. You will also need to let us know if you change bank. As with payment via your salary, we also ask that you let us know when your job role changes so that we can update your membership details. This enables us to keep you updated on issues relevant to your current role rather than your previous one.
We will need your signature on a membership form for us to be able to collect your membership directly from your bank or building society. You can either download the Direct Debit membership form here or sign-up online (only Direct Debit can be done this way). If you use the form, please return it directly to the branch via the freepost address above for us to process or you can pop it in the internal post.
